Ouch! Itchy!

This past weekend, Dave, Lauren and the NY Grandparents went to Joshua Tree National Park. Lauren got sick while there so Dave took her to the local urgent care place. The doctor prescribed Zithromax. Fast forward to yesterday…Lauren broke out in a horrid case of itchy hives.

When Lauren was 18 months old, she took Augmentin and ended up with erythema multiforme, a truly horrific rash. This isn’t like that rash but is plenty bad.

We are giving her Benadryl and putting cortisone cream on the most itchy spots. Unfortunately, the itchy spots cover the majority of her body and keep moving around. Yesterday they were mostly concentrated on her torso, back, and legs. This morning more spots appeared on her face and hands and her eyes are swollen.

Poor Lauren! Please pray that she will be comfortable and that the itchy will go away FAST!

No way on earth is Lauren going to be OK with a picture of herself right now, so I’ll post a picture that Lauren took at Joshua Tree. She took 300 pictures and did a GREAT job.

More About You Mondays

This weekend Dave, Lauren and the NY Grandparents went to Joshua Tree National Park. Hope and I stayed home and went to Legoland, the beach, a friend’s house, Toys R Us, Walmart and Goodwill. Walmart and Goodwill were particularly exciting, let me tell you!

Hope and I went to the beach this morning and played in the sand.

I had plans to take lots of pictures this weekend. But, I only got the one above. Lauren called this morning and said she has taken 150 pictures with her camera at Joshua Tree and they all need to be cropped! Can’t wait to see what she found interesting.

Today’s More About You Monday question is: What are you up to today?

I Would Like to Be…

Every once in awhile, amidst the daily grind of parenting, there are moments that stop us in our tracks and make our hearts skip a beat. We whisper thankful prayers that they are getting it.

Sure, we want our girls to be successful, happy and well-liked but, more than anything else, we want them to love the Lord with all their hearts. We want them to blow us out of the water with how they love God and serve others. We are not the best examples of that and often pray that, in spite of us, our children will be 100% all-in.

Lauren came home from school last week with a paper she wrote.

It brought tears to our eyes…

…because it read:

I would like to be the leader of…a kids worship band. The church I would lead for would be called “New Song.” I go to the kids service all most every morning. The worship songs are awesome. The band would be perfect for me. I fit all the things they need. One I have a buetiful voice. I also love the lord with all of my heart. That’s why I would want to be a worship leader for New Song!

She’s 8. Eventually, she’ll learn how to express both self-confidence and humility. But may she always, always believe that she can accomplish anything for God with the gifts He gives her.

Love is in the Air

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Are You Learning Anything New?

More About You Mondays

Lauren is learning to knit (her babysitter knits and gave knitting needles to Lauren…is that what they are called? Knitting needles?). She is also taking an art class focusing on drawing animals and nature. Dave is learning how to make videos for church. I’m learning how to refinish wooden furniture. The wooden trunk I am working on is my first and will be my last refinishing project! I’m also learning to cook various green vegetables. This week’s new vegetable is broccolini.

Broccolini, aka baby broccoli. Yes, it is this green!

Today’s More About You Monday question is: Are you learning anything new?
