Happy Friday!

We’ve been busy this week working on the website. Well, I should say that Dave has been busy working on the website and I’ve just been interjecting my opinions! Hopefully, we will be done soon and will debut the new and improved look.

So, today’s post is just a picture. I know it is another picture of Hope in her high chair. I know I said I was going to take some of her not in her high chair but this week was crazy busy. We’ve got a few nice days coming up so hopefully we can get some outside pictures. And no I won’t be taking the high chair outside. :)

Happy Friday!!!

Fun With Light Painting

I bought some glow sticks about a year ago with an idea to have some fun with light painting, which is a photography technique using a long, single frame exposure to capture light in motion.

Last Saturday night, I finally pulled out the glow sticks and a couple of small flashlights.

Lauren and I had some fun!

Sitting perfectly still for 30 seconds was pretty much impossible…but Lauren did a pretty good job.

Here’s one we made together. Lauren contributed the swirly textured background.

OK, so they’re far from perfect. But not bad for our first attempt! And something we’ll remember for awhile.

The Beauty of Snow

Yesterday we decided to be adventurous. Dave came home from work a little early so we bundled up the girls, packed the cameras and set off for our favorite spot in the woods.

Lauren, our little photographer, took this picture. Yesterday, she asked if she can have her own blog so she can write and post her pictures. :)

Dave and Lauren took pictures of each other, at the same time.

Hope got a taste of snow. She wasn’t so sure.

Me and my almost one year old!

We had fun. It’s good to have fun.

Snow can wreak havoc on the roads and can shut down most everything. But, it sure is pretty! It covers up a whole lot of brown ugliness. I love snow.

New Skills

Hope has learned some new skills:

  • She likes to lift the trash can lid in the kitchen and pull out all sorts of treasures. Some of those treasures are apparently worth tasting.
  • She has figured out how to turn on the garbage disposal (who thought it was a good idea to put the switch on the side of the island, right at an almost one year old’s level?).
  • She thinks it is great fun to spit her mouthful of food all over Lauren, who screeches loudly…which motivates Hope to laugh and do it again.
  • She likes to push the humidifier tank over and splash around in the water.

Recently, she decided that anytime the camera comes out, so must her tongue.

I’ve said it before but it’s worth saying again. Carmen made us appreciate life. I don’t mind so much when I find Hope covered in whatever she found or got into. She’s healthy. And doing just what almost-one-year olds usually do.

Who Needs Toys?

I bought a couple of big packs of toilet paper because we are always running out. I asked Lauren to please go down to the basement and bring up a roll. She was gone for a while but finally did come up with one roll. I went downstairs later and found this:

Reminds me of this picture and post from February 2009:

I’m not sure why we buy toys around here? Toilet paper and cups seem to do the trick!

Happy Friday!
