When we first found out about Carmen’s disease, I remember thinking that life was going to be on hold for the next few years, which bothered me tremendously. Recently, I’ve begun to realize that our lives are not on hold; they are simply in focus.
On hold.
In focus.
There seems to be a subtle difference between the two. I choose and prefer “in focus”.
I’ve never heard “it” put quite like that. It’s perfectly stated!
In Focus.
God has a plan~ we just need to pay attention.
My prayers are with you today (& always).
I pray Carmen’s feeding tube surgery goes well today.
hugs, monica
In focus. I have never had so much focus in my whole life. I am 100% focused on getting rid of C-diff!
In all seriousness, I know exactly how you feel.
In focus: NY Grandma and I have seen a lot of HGTV and there are a lot of programs about curb appeal and landscaping and how it can improve your property look and value. Also, I’ve been reading in Luke lately and it hit me that in chapter 3 there is a short passage about what I will call “Spiritual Landscaping” that will improve your “personal” property value when it comes to advancement of God’s Kingdom.
Luke 3:3 “Then John went from place to place on both sides of the Jordan River, preaching that people should be baptized to show that they had turned to God to receive forgiveness for their sins. 4 Isaiah had spoken of John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the LORD’s coming! Clear the road for him! The valleys will be filled, and the mountains and hills made level. The curves will be straightened and the rough places made smooth. 6 And then all people will see the salvation sent from God.’”
John was talking about “Preparing the way for the LORD’s coming!” How is that done? Clear the road, fill the holes, maintain a level view, straighten the curves and smooth out the rough places. These are all landscaping terms that when applied to our lives we can be prepared for the LORD’s work within us. In a few verses later it is mentioned that dead wood must be put to the axe because it no longer serves a good purpose. That is pruning.
What does all this have to do with focus? I believe it has everything to do with focus because there are certain things in our lives that need Spiritual Landscaping if we are to be used for the greater good. All other things just don’t matter and distract us and cause us to lose the focus of what is really important.
