A Rite of Passage: Earrings

Today, I took Lauren, Maya and Hope to the mall to run some errands. We walked by Claire’s and Lauren asked, “Can I please, please, please get my ears pierced?!”

For months we have told Lauren that she can get her ears pierced whenever she would like but she has been very worried that it would hurt.

Today, she had the moral support of her best friend.

Lauren, about to get her ears pierced

The girls picked out the earrings: Lauren’s December birthstone, blue topaz.

They posed for a picture.

Moral support from Maya

After the technician pierced the first ear, Lauren shed a few tears. But, she bravely sat still for the second ear to be pierced.

Lauren with her new earrings!

Congratulations to Lauren for being super brave and having new sparkly ears!

I LOVE the fact that they are both wearing one of each shoe!

Since I know you want to keep your kiddos as safe as possible, may I gently remind you to be sure the seatbelt in routed through the red holder on the carseat? That helps the seatbelt fit properly across her shoulder. It also appears the back should be raised to unsure her head is fully protected by the carseat (although it may just be the angle of the photo).

Krista- good pointers! Thanks! I’ll make sure to take a look at the red holder and the seat back.

The shoes are so cute! Annie and her BFF haven’t done that yet. Lauren was so brave….I can’t believe they pierced one ear at a time…yikes! When Annie had hers done, they had two people do an ear each so both were done together. Good job Lauren…..they look beautiful!
