It is hard to believe that a year ago, we watched Lauren climb on board the bus and head off to school as a kindergartner. I was a bit anxious and so was Lauren, although no one would have known Lauren was anything other than ecstatic about her first day of school. She smiled and skipped her way to school. Later she told me that she was nervous.
This morning Lauren woke up and said, “I am SO EXCITED! I LOVE school!” She is especially thrilled to have her best friend in her class.
I am not one of those moms who laments the first day of school. I loved school so much as a kid that I just expect my kids to love it too! And, the truth is, I enjoy a break. And I’m quite sure Lauren enjoys a break from me.
Here’s our cutie-pie, all ready for first grade. (Last year Lauren was fine with her preschool princess backpack. This year she had an opinion about her backpack. She requested rolling luggage and presented a compelling case: she needed rolling luggage to avoid hurting her back while carrying all of her supplies, homework, lunch, etc. She is a LOT like her daddy!)

aww, she is SO cute!!
You look adorable Lauren! I hope you have an awesome year! What’s your best friend’s name?
P.S. The flower is lovely!
WOW!! First grade!! Hope Lauren had a wonderful day-her smile tells it all!!!
To me Lauren looks a lot like a pretty first grader I knew some 27 years ago. Lana! I’m not sure, but backpacks probably didn’t have wheels then, but Lauren has a piece of rolling luggage. Smart girl. Me? In first grade I toted the books or whatever under my right arm, which is now a half-inch longer than the left one. But I did build up my “mushles.” Great pic. Love always, Dad
What a cutie
and I bet smart too!
Absolutely, Lauren! Rolling luggage is the perfect thing. I have a crate with wheels and collapsible handle, as well. Everyday I pack my purse (large quilted bag), lunch in an LLBean canvas lunch size bag that had a Christmas gift in it for me a few years ago, my thermos of black coffee (mainstay for my day) and a plastic bag of greeting cards to have on hand when needed. My daughter (7th grade math teacher in New Hampshire) got this crate for me. I’m surprised that other folks at my school haven’t jumped on this “rolling crate” band wagon… perhaps it’s my white hair that makes them avoid aging with a crate….
You go girl, Lauren!! You’re a beautiful First Grader, for sure.
Enjoy 1st grade Lauren!
How cute are you Lauren !!!!! I hope you had a great 1st day of school. Love the flower and the rolling book bag !!!!!
So adorable! Hope she had a great first day!
Great picture! Lauren is a beautiful first grader. I hope her year is filled with wonderful experiences. I must confess, I loved first grade. My teacher sang and played the guitar for us. 30 years later, the thought still brings a smile to my face. Hopefully Lauren will make the same kind of memories.
Pure joy on that little face! I love, love LOVE that headband!!!
Hi Connie, Lauren had a playdate with a friend and they made the headband.
Wow, she made it! Looks very boutique!
