The final photo submitted as part of the “Carmen Contest” was this one from Nancy in Iowa. She has eight children (five adopted, four from Guatemala). Thanks Nancy!

That’s it! These are all the photos, animations and paintings that you submitted. Thank you so much for helping us celebrate Carmen and how God has used her to bring us all together. We thoroughly enjoyed all of your submissions! You may not remember but this was a contest…which means that there is a winner. We’ll be announcing the winner within a couple of days along with the prize that this person will receive for winning.

In the coming weeks and months, we are hoping to do more things like this to make Beautiful Canvas “a little less about us, a little more about you, and a lot more about Him!”

Thanks again!

The second painting says Carmen in Chinese (at least that’s what Karen told us!). Thank you Karen!

What’s For Dinner?

It probably seems that all we eat around here is cake, cookies, pie and more pie. While we do love cake, cookies and pie (who doesn’t!?) we actually eat a lot of salad and grilled chicken and grilled vegetables. Dave is a whiz at grilled chicken. He got that ability directly from his dad.

Recently, I decided that we needed to branch out and try cooking beef. The only beef we know how to cook is hamburger. This week I went to the grocery store and, lo and behold, rib-eye steaks were on sale. I felt better about experimenting on $20 worth of steak rather than $40 (it was a big package of steaks).

Dave found some steak rub in our pantry and fired up the grill.

I want to tag this post to the recipe section so here’s the recipe: rib-eye, steak rub, grill. :)

OH. MY. WORD. Delicious. What in the world took us so long????

Steak

After I took this picture, I thought to myself that it looked kind of GROSS but I promise that it was wonderful!

What’s for dinner at your house?

Photos of Carmen – Cristina

Del and Cristina are an amazing couple who live near us in MD. They have pretty much “been there, done that” and have great wisdom from all of their life experiences. Thankfully, they openly share their wisdom and hopefully a tiny bit rubs off on Lana and me!

This photo was submitted by Cristina.

Carmen has never been to San Diego…but she did move recently. Lana will tell you all about it in an upcoming post. Stay tuned!
