As most of you know, I recently returned from a two week trip to California. Sandwiched between my two weeks of work, I was able to get away for the weekend. I drove about two and a half hours from San Diego to Joshua Tree National Park. I spent all day Saturday and part of Sunday in the park, mostly filming but also taking a few photos and enjoying solitude as well as the sounds and scenes in nature.
The park is beautiful. Strange. Underwhelming at first (at least it is from the 29 Palms entrance). Yet remarkable and beautiful.
I’m working on a video now but thought I’d share my favorite photo from the weekend. The nighttime sky was simply stunning and this photo doesn’t come remotely close to doing it justice!

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Psalms 19:1)
Dave, that is beautiful. Very proud of you!
Looks like a painting! So cool!
So beautiful! I thought it was a manmade print. And, you say it is more beautiful than we see here. Heaven…..
Any update on your brothers?
Unquestionably…the real thing was far more spectacular!
Apparently, Wes is doing pretty good (possibly going home tomorrow) but Steve is not fairing as well. He’s in loads of pain.
Brief update on Steve (via Wes): He is really struggling. He cannot eat solid food yet. He is still in a lot of pain. He has had trouble giving blood and was up all night so he’s exhausted. He is very discouraged and needs to be lifted up spiritually.
Wes and Karen are trying to keep updates on their website – http://www.coddingtontribe.com
Just got back from hospital – Wes had a set back tonight – throwing up and severe pain from heart burn (that is what they think it is from) The pain had subsided some by the time we left. Steve was up (out of bed) all evening and walked to see Wes twice today (they are at opposite ends of the same floor – which means about a city block walk!!) I think the doctor is going to let him have some food tomorrow – also, I think a visit from Nathan boosted his spirits today
Thanks for all the prayers – -
A praise – - Wes’ creatinine levels have been dropping steadily since the transplant. He was over 7 before surgery, was down to 2.something this morning and was down to 1.something tonight!!!! That means Steve’s kidney is getting Wes back to normal – at least as far kidney function – the anti-rejection drugs are causing their own “side” effects!
Praise God that He knows all this before now. Still lifting them all in prayer. Be blessed yourselves…. Love you.
Hi Dave, That picture is awesome. I was at 29 palms 2 or 3 times in the Corps, I loved the nights. I am praying for Steve and Wes very much. God be with you all, Joe
