Easter Loveliness

Easter Sunday was a glorious day. Sunny skies and mild temperatures. After Easter dinner (which turned out pretty horrible because the ham I bought was gross…ham should not be the consistency of mashed potatoes!), we packed up and went to the park to take pictures. I’ll post some of those pictures over the next few days but wanted to start with this one of Carmen.

Carmen, Easter Sunday

Dave and I had the same emotional reaction to this picture. Tay Sachs has taken so much from Carmen.

Carmen is lovely. But her eyes have lost their sparkle.

We know that the instant she passes from this life to the next, she will be free from all sickness. She will run and laugh and play.

Are we keeping her alive for us or for her?

We ask for your prayers. We need so much wisdom that we don’t possess.

Carmen is so beautiful and as Nicki says, her hair is gorgeous. Carmen is, obviously, being kept alive by YHWH’s will. And, I’m guessing that is for you, for Carmen and most of all for His Glory. His Glory is so evident!!! Hallelujah!!

Your wisdom is deep within. God always provides. Consider yourselves prayed for. Carmen is beautiful. God bless you all.

That description of ham was so gross! Sorry it was a bummer
Carmen is very beautiful. I don’t know, Lana, if you are “keeping her alive.” You do very basic, gentle, humane care for your little girl. It’s not invasive or over the top. I would not feel guilty about doing that. Not ever.

Danielle, sometimes I feel like we are…Carmen wouldn’t be alive except for her feeding tube. Is that fair? I don’t know.

Yes, the ham was GROSS. We threw the whole thing away. My mom, queen of returning stuff, is going to ask the grocery store for another one (NOT the store brand ham I bought!). Next year I am going with a Honeybaked Ham!

Hi Lana, I just watched the resurrection video now read this words. From how long I don’t know I follow a long with you all but this I believe. Carmen knows love, her body can’t tell you but her Spirit can and one day you will know what a gift you give her for every day she is here and I trust you will have peace when it is time God calls her home. Rest your Spirit :o ) As far as the ham goes…go with Smithfield, thats ham! Hope is good I say. God bless, Joe

You know this already but ….Carmen is and always will be beautiful- you know those Mazatenango girls are something else! (OK- so I may be a little biased since I have one of my own !) It is not what her eyes have lost, rather what others now do see because of her. God’s plan is not always evident but you both have shown immense faith and trust through this journey- you have my prayers for peace of mind and strength!
I love that she is holding a flower in her hand!

Lana, please consider this: I know that Carmen has been a big blessing to you and your family in spite of her illness. I know that many people are blessed every time they hit on your and Dave’s site. I know you know that God’s timing is perfect. I believe God will keep Carmen here on earth through you and when it’s time for her to go home to be with Him, you’ll know it and you’ll find peace with it…Love always, Dad

I did not realize Carmen’s hair was so long…it’s beautiful…she is beautiful. I pray that you will find peace in knowing Carmen’s life time is in God’s hands. You are loving and nurturing her as you do for little Hope. They both need you just in different ways. As extremely difficult as the end of life for your child is, you will know when Carmen is done with her fight. I always told Blake “I’m not ready for you to go”, but when he was having difficulty breathing and in the quiet of the middle of the night, I was able to tell him it’s ok to let go knowing he was moving on to Heaven. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I knew in my heart it was the right time. I pray that you too will have peace when that time comes…I’m so sorry. My heart breaks for all of you.

I know that when God chooses to take Carmen home, it will be because her work here on earth is done. Until that time, she has been such a blessing to so many. Many people that you have never met here in New Jersey have been touched by your care for Carmen, your trust in the Lord, your many miracles through having to deal with everything from the beginning. No matter what your doing to keep Carmen alive, if God wanted her home, he would take her. God has given you the ability to care for her without extra ordinary intervention. She looks so peaceful and I am sure that’s because of the care that you give her. When God wants her to go, she will go into the arms of our wonderful Saviour. I am so thankful that she has been a blessing to so many of our friends and family. We love you and sometimes when I see the agony you go through, my heart breaks for you. You are going to have many gems in your crown in heaven. Love you all.
