Happy Birthday NY Grandpa!

We want to wish NY Grandpa a happy birthday and to thank him for all he has done for us in the past few years.
He lives 6 1/2 hours away but at a moment’s notice will drop everything and come help. In fact, he tells us that his overnight bag is packed and ready to go.
He has been here for Carmen’s hospitalizations and sicknesses. One night Carmen was coughing and coughing. I was sitting in the rocker with her (this was before night nursing care). NY Grandpa came in Carmen’s room and said, “Go to bed. I’ll hold her.” I went to bed, only intending to sleep a few hours. I woke the next morning and found NY Grandpa sound asleep in the rocker with Carmen on his chest. He had slept all night sitting up holding Carmen. I wish I had taken a picture.
He has been here when Dave has to travel.
He was here many times when I was on bed rest.
Most of my MOPS friends know NY Grandpa.
He is known as the pie-maker around here!
Lauren refers to the basement room as Grandpa’s bed room. She once said that Grandpa lives in the basement and goes home to visit Grandma.
He loves playing with his grand kids. Crafts, geocaching, polly pockets, etc. He is often “Prince Charming” at our house.

Indeed, Happy Happy Happy Birthday, NY Grandpa. He’s a great addition to NY Grandma and I am so blessed to have them as my friends. I’ve asked to be adopted by the NY Grandparents, but haven’t heard how those proceedings are coming along. Happy Birthday, Doug…..
Oh wow! That is precious indeed! We are fortunate to have my parents living in an addition on our house. We all get along great, and it’s an awesome arrangement! Our property has been in my family for over 80 years, and was the “cottage” for my Dad’s family…
Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AN AWESOME GRANDPA, who would drive all that distance at a moments notice! That’s true and unconditional love!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOUG! I wish I could join you to help Lauren, Carmen and Hope. But alas, Texas is more than a 6-1/2 drive from my granddaughters.
Happy Birthday indeed! “Papas” are the best people in the world. I wouldn’t have traded mine for anything, and my kids wouldn’t trade theirs either. SO glad Lauren, Hope and Carmen have such a fabulous one.

I teared up reading this beautiful post. Just last night, my Dad watched our two (2 1/2 & 4) so we could meet friends about 90 minutes away for dinner. Not only did they have an awesome time with their “Papa”, he fed them, bathed them & put them to bed ON TIME! Brings back memories of my Papa and what a great babysitter he was

Oh- happy birthday NY Grandpa- I don’t you but boy from what I read you’re one talented DUDE!!! Now Lana all you need to do is package him and market him and you could be a millionaire!!!Every one needs a NY Grandpa-what a special guy to have around!!!! Enjoy your day!!!
