Guatemala Dream

Recently, I dreamed that Dave and I went to Guatemala on a missions trip. We went to Mi Refugio and took pictures of all the beautiful children. I remember dreaming that we were able to go together because Hope was 18 months and old enough to stay with the grandparents. That would be next summer.

When I woke up, I had two thoughts: 1) I better hurry up and learn how to take portraits so that I can take great ones of the Guatemalan children and 2) if Dave and I are able to go together, that means Carmen is most likely no longer with us.

If my dream comes true and we do go back to Guatemala, it will be bittersweet. I will surely be a weepy mess seeing all the beautiful Guatemala children. But, I will also feel so proud to honor Carmen’s life.

Thanks Tammy for the delicious meal. Dave said, “Yep, this is a Tammy meal!”

Hi Lana. How interesting that this was your entry today. Mariela just made me tell her about her adoption story and I told her that she was our Guatemalan dream. I hope that you do go back to Guatemala, as I hope my family does one day as well. It is a beautiful country that gave us all so much. I know the trip will be bittersweat without Carmen but something tells me she’ll very much be with you when you go. I look forward to reading about the trip when the time comes. You are in my prayers.
