Carmen always LOVED baths. In fact, anytime I wanted to take a picture of her smiling, I put her in the bath. She would give huge smiles for the camera.
The picture on the left is Carmen’s first bath at our house, January 2007. The picture on the right is the last picture I got of Carmen smiling, November 2007.

Although Carmen can no longer smile, I think she still enjoys baths. She definitely relaxes in the bath tub.
Hope, on the other hand, HATES baths. In fact, I told Dave yesterday that I was going to give Hope a bath and there would be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Maybe she will decide she likes baths as she gets older?!
Yesterday was the first time Hope actually stopped crying in the bath long enough to look at the camera! But, alas, that didn’t last long!

Every one wishes for a baby manual when they bring home their newborns. I suppose there isn’t one because every baby is so very different!
Oh Lana- I absolutely love the pics of your sweet girls-Carmen looks so much like my Jessica, from Guatemala, who loves her baths as well!!! Don’t worry I’m sure little Hope will learn to LOVE the bath-especially once the toys and bubbles come to play. Actually I wish that all kids came with a manual and perhaps an update that would come every few months or so! There’s always something that comes up – I guess that’s the amazing part of the journey! Thanks for sharing!
Carmen is stunningly beautiful!! And so is lil miss Hope! Great pics of such sweet girls!
It is so awesome to see Carmen’s incredible smile! She has such a joyful expression of sheer delight! What a comfort to know that we can all spend eternity feeling the same joy.
Those are amazing pictures of her, as well as little Hope. Poor baby! Katia used to scream during baby baths too, but grew to love them like Carmen so you never know… Maybe she would like to shower with you instead? That’s what I did with Katia, and I think the comfort of being held close while experiencing the water made all the difference. Try and see…
Please tell Dave that I am praying for Wes. Can they move the surgery date up?
Hi Lana, Those are great pictures. I bet in her Spirit Carmen does enjoy her baths, her life, just because she knows she is so loved. Hope just might be your strong willed, spunky girl, add some spice to your life
) The teen years should be fun HAHA. God bless you all, Joe
Love the pictures! MIchael, who will be6 months old on Thursday, did not enjoy the bath until 4 months. Now, he’s like a little fish! Maybe Hope’s thoughts on bath time will change too.
Loved the pictures–Beautiful Girls–
Love, Janet
As your friends have shared other stories about their babies, I have to tell you about our Beth. She was born breech in 3 hours…no c-section (OuCH!!) Anyway, she didn’t like bathtime either. And, neither did Mom. She had a cast from her waist to her toes for the first 4 weeks and then a new one to her knees for another 4. When we went to the Dr to get the first cast cut off, the Dr. said would you like to bathe her without her cast on? When I went to pick her up, I nearly flung her over my shoulder because I was so used to her weight with the cast…Geez! I probably would have made the nightly news! Mother breaks childs legs/ arms in Orthopedic Dr’s office. Thank goodness I was able to “bring her in” and not toss her completely up to the ceiling! Hope I made you smile–
I can’t believe how much Hope looks like all the Coddington babies. She has grandpa’s mouth and eyes. Love the pics.
My kids love the bath too…it is their happy place!
