No Longer Twiddling Our Thumbs!

By Lana, February 2, 2010 3:19 pm

I wrote the following post Saturday afternoon and planned to post it Sunday morning. I named it Twiddling Our Thumbs. Well, lots happened Saturday night! :) God certainly answered my prayer that Hope would be born soon. In between feedings, changing diapers, and cat naps, we are working on a couple of posts so stay tuned.

I’ve organized the laundry room closet, the pantry, Lauren’s closet, Carmen’s closet, the newborn stuff, and the kids’ cupboard (lunch containers, bottles, Carmen’s formula, etc.). This is the all the stuff I was dying to do while on bed rest and never thought I would have the chance.

Sixteen weeks ago, I never would have imagined I would be 39 weeks pregnant and Baby Hope would yet to be born. It strikes me as ironic that for 13 weeks I laid on the couch and prayed that she wouldn’t come early. God certainly answered that prayer! :) Now, I am praying that she is born soon!

In addition to cleaning out the pantry yesterday, I made animal pancakes for Lauren. Fun!

Hoooooray….. food pictures are back. I’m so hungry that I’m ready to munch on the screen. It’s wonderful hearing from you, Lana, mom of Lauren, Carmen and Hope. Isn’t that the sweetest definition!!! Oh yeah, wife of Dave… oooops!

I thought about not posting this. It seems rather insignificant in the scheme of things. But, I couldn’t resist posting a good food picture!

Wow…is that real syrup I spy?

    • Lana says:

Yep! From Trader Joe’s. Lauren won’t touch the fake stuff…she says only maple syrup is pancake syrup!

We buy ours by the gallon from upstate NY. My dad grew up tapping his own syrup, and he passed his good taste on to me. Hehehe. This is why Cracker Barrel is my fav place for pancakes…they use the good stuff.

No wonder Hope came that night – - – look at all you did on Saturday!!!!!

And, yes, that is real maple syrup – - Dave is from New York and “real” New Yorkers (especially “upstate” NYers) would only use “real” maple syrup – - – -

    • Lana says:

Well, I didn’t do all that on Saturday. Just the pantry and pancake part! :)

I am from upstate NY, but now live in Texas. I remember tapping our trees and boiling the sap to make “real” syrup. My kids love it when my parents bring us the “real” thing (and I do too.) :)

Those pancakes are so cute. How’d you do that?
So happy to hear from you. And so happy for you I just can’t stand it.
I’m watching closely for more pics of Hope and the girls : )

Congratulations Lana and Dave! My parents and I just saw the photos. Charlene called today and told us Hope had been born. We are so thankful, with you, that the Lord answered prayer for a safe, full-term delivery. Wish we lived closer and could see her in person. We send all our best wishes that the next few months will be a smooth transition for you with all the care of Carmen as well as a new baby now. I’m sure Lauren will be a big helper. She looks so much like you! We enjoyed the photo of her by the snowman.
