For Christmas, NY Grandma gave me a book called The Moms’ Book: For The Mom Who’s Best At Everything. The Heck With Housework chapter has the following wise advice, “If you have friends with immaculate houses, tell yourself that they must have too much time on their hands and lead a really boring life. You are far too interesting to spend all that time washing the windows, polishing the furniture, vacuuming the curtains, and scrubbing the kitchen floor.”
Or folding laundry.

Here are two of my interesting reasons for not doing housework.

The other two reasons were at a birthday party this afternoon.
(I recognize that in the time it took for me to take these pictures, upload them, play around with them, and export them, I could have folded up all that laundry. But, what fun is that?!)
Based on the state of my house, I must be VERY interesting! So, are you boring or are you interesting?
Let’s just say that it’s refreshing to see someone’s bedroom look similar to mine:-)
I say you are VERY interesting and it has NOTHING to do with your house – - – which is ALWAYS neat and clean (Well – I guess the laundry IS the exception!!
)
Don’t anyone be deceived – - Dave and Lana are VERY neat people – - mostly because they don’t keep JUNK!! (This is from the queen of junk mother!)
Really, NY Grandma, you tend to NOT throw things away?????
You should know that more than most – - –
VERY interesting! My brother and his wife were just here. They are both teachers and have no kids–I was SOOOOO embarrassed! She cooked lunch and dinner for us and I could have died over the state of my kitchen!
I’m not sure that I am interesting but my life certainly is. With 4 kids under four, lets just say that I would rather play with baby, fix butterfly wings and crowns on two “princesses” dancing to ALL THE SINGLE LADIES, and make a tent for my superhero. Before kids and husband, my house was pristine. Now, my house is a home. And I am sure that someday, it will return to its immaculate state. I will be way more upset about that than I am about the “mess” now because that will mean all my “babies” are grown up.
definately boring, all I do is clean my house. I think I am a bit nurotic
)
I’m a little of both. between not working and having 3 teenagers, I have been trying to get my house back in order, not an easy task! It seems like my to do list just keeps repeating itself and I feel like I am getting nowhere fast!
I agree, it is nice to see someone elses bedroom that doesn’t look like a page out of a magazine! Lana, you have beautiful reasons for not getting to that laundry!
I have to say….that for the first, oh, at least THREE months of your new baby’s life you are TOTALLY EXEMPT FROM ANY PRECONCEIVED HOUSEHOLD NEATNESS GOALS!!! If your family is fed and (those who need it) in clean diapers….then you ROCK!!!!!
Amen – - except I would make that three YEARS!!
I will officially change my opinion to agree with NY Grandma’s statement!
Seems I’m both boring and a mess. All my kids are grown and I’ve been widowed for the past 25 yrs. Why clean???? So, I keep out of the house as much as possible. Oh yeah, I never liked cleaning anyway… do like a pristine house though… where can I find one????
I love the picture of Carmen and Hope. It is really cute. I love to fold laundry and tity up, but I also love coudeling. Enjoy the baby stage while it lasts. it doesn’t last long.
My house is a wreck, but as someone told me before, “My house is lived in”. I am trying to get rid of stuff, because the less “junk” you have, the less “junk” there is to clean, right? Glad to see that other have the same problems as I do.
Matt gets annoyed at the clutter around the house and I have to remind him that a “museum quality” house means no one lives there. Since we are here and living day in and day out, it’s never going to be perfect.
I must be intersting!! I can pick up and keep the house maintained most of the time…but my downfall is laundry! I LOATHE it! I dont mind to wash it, or put it in the dryer, but after that it goes straigh to my room where we dig for clothes until I make myself go fold it. I think I hate it so much because we are bursting at the seems in drawers and closet space. I am cant put it up as neat as I like therefor I dont do it at all, well at least not often but I do eventually do it. LOL!
I’m getting more interesting every year! I thought that when I got older I would have more time for cleaning but lately I’ve had no time at all. Going from a 4 day work week to a 5 day has been a big change. Plus I’m driving over an hour a day. Of course with Kevin moving in with me I’m sure he’ll be doing lots of cooking and cleaning. Yesterday he had chili cooked and the kitchen clean when I got home from work.
Looking back at the growing up years of my children, I wish I had cared less about my house. Those years went by so quickly.
Thank you Texas Grandma. You make me feel a whole lot better about spending more time with my babies than I do with my “dust bunnies”.
I laughed out loud when I saw the picture of the laundry…that is so us!!! With 3 kiddos it seems like we are always doing laundry, there just isn’t time to put it all away. I am glad to know I am not the only one!!!
How did my bedroom picture get on this blog?!?!?!?! I have moved past interesting -I’m down right fascinating!!!
