You may remember the picture of Carmen that Dave took on her 3rd birthday. The picture was taken in front of the fountains in Rockville City Center. Lauren named it, “To Carmen with Love, Happy Birthday”.

After seeing it on our website, Carmen’s Make-A-Wish representative, Heather, suggested we submit it to a photography contest celebrating the 150th anniversary of Rockville, MD. It turns out, this was a great suggestion because Dave’s picture was chosen for the exhibit. Yesterday, we all went to the opening of the photography exhibit (my first time out of the house in the last three months for anything other than a doctor visit! Hooray!!).
There are a number of other photos in the exhibit, which spans multiple rooms at the Glenview Mansion. Dave is way too humble to say this but I was pleased to see that Carmen’s picture was displayed prominently over the fireplace mantel.
Here are Dave, Lauren and Carmen in front of the picture at the exhibit.

Thank you, Rashmi, for having it printed for us!
Hi Lana,
Just wanted to express my deepest admiration for you and your family – I’ve been a silent follower of your blog for a little while now…Your (and Dave’s) courage, optimism and hopeful approach to your situation is a testimony of the strength that one is capable of in times of trial and tribulations. We all have so much to learn from you. I think your blog is very aptly named – because it a true reflection of your beauty and strength. My best wishes for your family.
Beautiful! My heart is full of your love. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you all and keep you all in the palm of His gracious hands. Breathlessly, Betty.
brought a tear to my eye….. beautiful!
WOW! I am very proud, in a good way, that God has given you talent and he has honored your family because you desire to honor Him. Who, but God, would have known that your photo would be seen world-wide? It was just a photo of a special moment only experienced by you but now thousands can experience it, too. Thank you Lord, for letting it be shared.
After spending so much time bed-fast, Lana, it must have been extremely special to not only get out but to see your family posted in public for all to enjoy. God is great, ………all the time.
As the tears roll down my face, I can’t help but be so thankful for your family. Your love, strength, devotion and this blog continually inspire us. Congratulations to all of you for this honor. And Lana, so glad you were able to go as a family of 5 to see the portrait gallery. More of God’s perfect timing.
Take good care.
Oh my land. That picture of Dave with his girls….bawling my eyes out!
Hi Dave, Hi Lana, You all sure do have a God given talent for taking pictures, I love the one of Carmen but the one of Dave and the girls is beautiful. I know Carmen cant say all she knows and feels but I also know her Spirit can and she knows and feels the Love you have for her, she couldn’t be more content. One day she is going to come running up to you and give you the biggest hug and tell you stories and just how happy you made her life. Lauren, She sure wont forget her big sister either. God bless you all. In Christ, Joe
Lana and Dave,
What a wonderful way to keep honoring Carmen, thank you so much for continuing to share and I pray for you always.
Helen
As the tears roll down my cheeks all I can think to say is how precious your family is. Truly beautiful in every way …
