Shower of Blessings

By Lana, January 23, 2010 8:52 pm

Today my friend, Karen, hosted a baby shower for me. Because I haven’t been feeling well, Karen brought everything to our house: the decorations, cake, cookies, sandwiches, salad, drinks, etc.

Thanks Karen. Thanks to my lovely friends who came to celebrate Hope.

After so many weeks of trying to keep this baby from being born too early, Hope now seems perfectly content to stay put. I, on the other hand, am rather anxious for her to be born!

    Hi Lana,

    I am a frequent reader and almost-never poster…but I had to share.

Looks like you had a wonderful day.

I was on bedrest for premature labor on and off from 16 weeks with my oldest daughter (my youngest two were adopted from Guatemala!). From about 22 weeks on, every time I would try to get out of bed I would start with the contractions. Like you, I was on terbutaline the entire time (oh, the shaking, I will never forget it!). And like you, I was taken off the meds at around 36 weeks. I was sure that I’d have the baby the next day! Sure enough I ended up in “labor” the next day…however it turned out to be false labor. I ended up having contractions on and off for the next 3 weeks and ended up being induced at 39 weeks! I was so sure she would come right out but, like Hope, my Madison was quite happy to stay put.

I wish you, your husband, and your girls a lifetime of happiness. Your story inspires many, and will continue to.

Hi Kelly, yep, the doctors are talking about inducing me at 39 weeks if baby doesn’t arrive by then! Ironic, huh!?

Thank you for commenting. It’s fun to meet new people!

      • Kelly says:

Well, I hope you do not have to be induced and that little girl makes her way into the world by then, but…yes! Very ironic!! Fingers crossed that she is here soon…and works with your schedule! :)

    Hi Lana,
I have been wondering how things are going for you — then I saw your post under someone’s FB comment so I “friended” you. This is the first time I’ve seen your blog page. So glad to hear your are doing well and in the home stretch. Beautiful picture of the shower — oh that Karen, she is so wonderful!
