Snow Is Coming!!!

Tomorrow’s forecast calls for a foot of snow. Maybe the snow will stay around for a few days and we will have a white Christmas. We love snow so this would make our Christmas extra special!

Edited to Add: After I posted this, I checked the weather again and the forecast is calling for up to 20 inches! Fun, fun!

Snow!

Carmen update: Carmen is doing very well. Her breathing is nice and slow and she looks comfortable. Carmen’s neurologist increased her Phenobarbital dose but she is still having a number of seizures every day. I think it’s time to add a fourth seizure medication. We increased her daily caloric intake. She is now getting a whopping 395 calories per 24 hours. When Carmen first got her feeding tube, the dietitian put her on 800 calories per day. Poor Carmen packed on the pounds! We have slowly decreased her calories since and had her down to about 330 per day. She maintained her weight for a few months but is starting to lose weight. So, hopefully, 395 will be a good number for Carmen.

Hope and Me: I saw the high risk doctor this week and my amniotic fluid is low and my cervix is shortening again. They also saw more funneling (dilating from the inside out). I will see my OB on Tuesday. I do have good news: I do NOT have gestational diabetes! I passed the three hour glucose test. There was some concern as 60% of pregnant women on Terbutaline to stop contractions develop gestational diabetes and I failed the first one hour test. I am really, really glad to not be dealing with that too!

Dave: Dave is feeling a bit under the weather so please pray that he will feel better soon and can enjoy the holiday season. He is loading up on Vitamin C.

Thanks to Dan for the Subway sandwiches, Azeb and Reena for the chicken lunch and Dawn for the spaghetti feast. Lauren ate two plates of spaghetti, proclaimed it “delicious” and asked if she could take some to school today. This is HUGE for Lauren, our exceptionally particular eater!

Praising God for all the forward measures. Thank God Carmen is doing OK for the time. Thank God for no diabetes. Hallelujah for goooooooood food and great friends! Praying for Dave’s healing and restoration to full health quickly, in Jesus’ Name. And, now….. since you’re eagerly awaiting 20″ of snow, I’m going to pray that you have it and keep it in your area. May all who have to move about in the storm be safe and secure. We up north can be very happy without it. Blessings and Love to you all…..

Thanks Betty! I know that snow is not nearly as exciting to you as to us!!! We only have to deal with it a few times per year for a few days at a time.

Get Airborne – or any similar generic – - – grandmother advice – it works!!!

    ….and get some sleep!!

I agree with the Airborne! When I am feeling yucky I drink it and I have had many potential colds not develop! I also swear by zinc, such as Cold Eeze, and it’s in Airborne. I’ve been using them for years. I know someone who works in a local zinc plant and also says zinc works! I take tons of vitamin C!

I have recently read, however, that you need to be careful about too much zinc – don’t remember what happens from overdosing – just remember the warning!

Hi there, First I am glad Carmen is doing so well, always I pray for her, Miss Molly and Amelia and so many other children. I just finished checking my tractor so I am ready for the snow, I have a long driveway. I don’t know about the medical stuff you say Lana but I pray for you and Hope. Dave, I will give you my medical advice to kill a cold or any thing else like it…..Old Grandad 100 proof :o ) Nyquil with a kick. Now don’t go downing a whole bottle just a shot in a cup of coffee, go to bed, sweat, and run to the bathroom in the morning HAHA!! That is my elixer. It works NY grandma, I wouldn’t steer your boy wrong :o )My bottle is probably 10 yrs old so maybe I need a new one. Might have to check it out. Hope you feel better very soon. God bless you all. In Christ, Joe

Zinc! We’re all about zinc…it’s been proven to lessen the length of a cold!

Carmen lost weight? When did this happen? How can I not know this?

The past two times we have weighed her, she has been down. Maybe she is burning more calories trying to stay warm????

Vitamin D works wonders for me – 9 times out of 10 whatever was starting doesn’t develop! Hope you’re enjoying the snow!

Put “White Christmas” in your DVD player, make some lucious hot chocolate, and snuggle in for a sweet family afternoon. Merry Christmas, Everybody……
