Family Fun: Pure Silliness!

We gave Lauren a beautiful doll house for Christmas that Lana found on Craiglist. Great deal!!! As I was putting together the rough clips to make a short video, Lana came over and said it looked creepy. So I went with it.

If you have trouble viewing the video above, click here to watch it on YouTube.

Please tell us. How was your Christmas? What did you do?

Dave: How come I can’t see the videos? I’ve missed 3 of them.
I would love to see Lauren’s doll house…

My guess is that you don’t have the latest flash player. You can download it here.

But I’ll post a link to the video on YouTube in the morning.

I loved my dollhouse when I was a little girl! I pray that one day if we decide to have more kids, I will get a girl so I can bombard her with girly toys! =)

Hey Brittany, how’s it going? I saw the pics of your boys on your blog. So cute!!! Are you getting any sleep yet? Ha! I think I know the answer to that one.

Good morning, I dont have sound on to not wake my son and At first I thought it was pictures of your house and I am thinking like Lana “this is kind of creepy” then I see Lauren’s smile, figure out what’s going on and then it is just adorable. That is a cool doll house. Have fun Lauren. God bless you all. In Christ, Joe

Your video is creepy cute and very imaginative Dave. When Lana was not quite nine years old I built her and the family a real “doll” house in Texas. It has about 2,100 sq. ft. of living space. I enjoyed building it.

Well, I wasn’t actually going for creepy at first. I was thinking more like something cute and girly. But it just went toward creepy. Once it did, we decided to make it a family event and re-shot a couple of scenes to get the right dialog.

The doll house is big…but not quite as big as the house you built.

I think if I build another house, I’ll use my stick framing nail gun. The house in Texas was built using a 16 oz. hammer and 250 lbs. of #16(mostly) and #8 bright common nails. Looks like you and the family are destined for Hollywood or Branding Iron Films?

What a beautiful dollhouse! I hope Lauren enjoys it for many years to come. It appearsYou guys did what I did- got a doll for each member in the real family! I got a house for Bella this year (almost 3)-and a doll for everyone (Mom, her, 3 cousins, grandma and aunt and uncle)- hers was blonde so I colored the hair with permanent marker to make it look more like her- it worked great!
Merry Christmas to all! Lauren- enjoy!

Lana did look for dolls to resemble our family. But she couldn’t find a dark-haired mom.

      • Lana December 29, 2009 at 11:57 am #

I found dark headed moms, just not in sets! I bought the hispanic doll separately but figured Lauren would be OK with me being blond!

Oh my gosh, that was hysterical!!! PLEASE make a sequel!

    • Dave © December 29, 2009 at 12:48 am #

Thanks Sandi! I’ll need a screen writer ’cause I’m not sure where that story could go! Have any suggestions?

Got any large pets that could enter the scene :-) ?
It reminds of the the Twilight Zone where the people are in a town and everything is fake. The big hand reaches down at the end and the people were brought to a land of giants to live in the little girl’s play village…

        • Sandi December 29, 2009 at 2:55 pm #

Okay, I just confused you. The people, a man and woman, in the episode HAD been brought to the town by the giants.

Great video, Dave! I love watching the videos you make; they’re touching or funny, but always terrific. I’m curious what video editing software you use since I’m shooting lots of video of my family, too, but haven’t really done any editing yet. Please don’t tell me it’s Mac only! :)

    • Dave © December 29, 2009 at 12:48 am #

Thanks Charles. I use Final Cut Pro, which is Mac only. Sorry! If you are looking for a good Windows-based editing software, I personally like Sony Vegas. I used it on our PC before it died.

Juliana, one of the other Beautiful Canvas participants, created a pretty cool video using Movie Maker, which comes free with Windows. There is a link to her video somewhere in one of these posts but I can’t seem to find it at the moment.

Thanks, Dave … wish I lived in a Mac world :(

    Hello Coddington Family!
Dave and Lauren – it was great to see you yesterday at the mall. Lana and Carmen – hope you two are doing well :) The Gordon family prays for all of you and we all enjoy the videos. Tori especially enjoys seeing Lauren on the videos. It would be so nice if the girls were still in the same class. Anyways, thanks for this latest video, my kids are already asking me to replay it – absolutely hilarious! I also vote for a sequel.
    Love,
    Jessica Gordon and family

Just lovely! And I think the dog did it in the parlor with the candlestick.

I LOVE IT! I laughed out loud a few times. Great job!
