Finally! Frosty the Snowman!

Frosty the Snowman

Was a jolly, happy soul

With a corncob pipe and a button nose

And two eyes made out of coal!

Well, this Frosty had baby carrots for decorations. Because Lauren and Dave had to use most of the snow in our yard from the light snowfall last night, Frosty also had quite a bit of grass and sticks rolled up in him. I think Frosty turned out pretty impressive!

We hope your 2009 ends on such a good note!

Big thanks to my friend Kerri who drove an hour yesterday with her three kids to visit and help us. She folded laundry, unloaded and re-loaded the dishwasher, swept the kitchen floor, found and put away the 0-3 month baby clothes, fixed lunch and dinner, and cleaned up everything before she left!

Good Things Come…

…in small packages!

Jewelry

Christmas presents from left to right:

  • Necklace from NY Grandma that says HOPE.
  • Bracelet that Lauren bought at her school’s holiday shop. It says #1 MOM.
  • Necklace with picture of Carmen and Lauren by Keet Leibowitz. Keet asked us how we wanted Carmen represented for this picture. We asked for a picture of Carmen and Lauren playing in Heaven. This is the hope we have. Little Windows Photo Jewelry made the picture into a necklace. This was my present from Lauren and Carmen.
  • Necklace for Carmen showing the part of Guatemala she was born. I ordered this from Dos Besit.

Love every one of them!

Family Fun: Pure Silliness!

We gave Lauren a beautiful doll house for Christmas that Lana found on Craiglist. Great deal!!! As I was putting together the rough clips to make a short video, Lana came over and said it looked creepy. So I went with it.

If you have trouble viewing the video above, click here to watch it on YouTube.

Please tell us. How was your Christmas? What did you do?

Sunday’s Thankful Couch Musings

  • Carmen’s night nurse, who worked Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. I told her how grateful we were that she didn’t cancel her shifts for Christmas. She said she just couldn’t do that, knowing all that we are going through. Thank you, Salem.
  • The sick people in this house (3 out of 4 of us) are at least starting to feel better.
  • We made it to 34 weeks!!!! I cannot believe I have been on bed rest for 11 weeks. I have two more weeks of bed rest and then I can s-l-o-w-l-y start moving around again. Hope may come early but 4-5 lbs. is a whole lot better than 1 lb!
  • For the past 11 weeks, this has been my view:

Thank you, Del and Cristina, for bringing turkey dinner to us last night! Wish we could have been with you guys for the after Christmas party yesterday!

One More Christmas…

By Lana, December 26, 2009 3:34 pm

Bronchitis, croup and respiratory distress with a fever were not on our Christmas list! But, despite three sick people and me still on bed rest, we had a nice Christmas. Lauren had great fun playing with her Christmas gift all day long (Be on the watch for a fun video by Dave about that!). We opened fabulous presents from family and friends (more on that later too!). Carmen’s breathing settled down and she had a comfortable day. We had a wonderful German Christmas dinner from some very special friends. We had one more Christmas to make memories with Carmen.

Dave took these pictures. I love them.

Thanks to Del and Cristina for the delicious Peruvian dinner. Thank you to Roxana for the Christmas Eve El Salvadorean pupusa dinner. Thank you to Eric and Claudia for the German Christmas dinner. With all the sickness going on around here, having food ready to eat in the fridge has been a huge help! Thank you.
