Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
I was reminded of this prayer recently.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
Most days I’m consumed with me, myself and I. But, at least for today, this is my prayer.
Oh, thank you, Dave. As you mentioned, most days I, too, am terribly consumed with all about me. Your sharing awakens my heart and soul to what is the Truth. Once again, dying to flesh and living for YHWH…..
It makes me want to attend Mass (again). Catholics are very respectful worshipers.

Hi Dave, I do love this prayer. I regularly read “Jesus freaks I, II”, most stories are a page long so it works for me, and I am continually reminded of what it means to witness your faith for some people in countries hostile to Christians. They live and die this prayer. I can’t hardly imagine telling some one beating me to death that I love them. I can only hope God give me boldness to live this prayer no matter what. God bless. In Christ, Joe
