Shut

I had the following conversation with Lauren when she got home from the second day of kindergarten:

Lauren: A boy in my class said “shut” today.
Me: He said what???
Lauren: Shut. My teacher told us that one time her son said a bad word. He said shut-up so he lost his video games for a few days because that wasn’t a nice word to say.
Me: Oh really?
Lauren: Yep. I guess shut isn’t a nice word. I think it means shut your mouth!

Oh dear. At least Lauren doesn’t have any idea what word that little boy was really saying! I have to admit that when I told Dave about this conversation, we laughed and laughed. :)

I would LOVE to know exactly how this all played out in the classroom and what exactly was said.

Lauren has been in school for two weeks now and thankfully we haven’t heard about anymore bad words!

That is too funny! My steppie (5 years old) is a new person after being in kindergarten just a few weeks. He has more attitude and personality than ever before. My hubby and I think this means big trouble for our future!

Oh, they’re so beautifully innocent at this age — it’s too bad it doesn’t last longer! I have to laugh (inside, of course) whenever I’m reading aloud to my class and a character in the book says, “Shut up,” or the word “stupid” appears — the whole class does this huge intake of breath, followed promptly by whispers, “She said a bad word!”

Oh, Praise God! Finally a new word to use in frustration. I’m so tired of “Shoot” and “Phooey”. And we all know, from our grandchildren, that “Oh, Crap!” is a big no-no. Thank you, Lana, for sharing. My stress can now be released with a strong “SHUT”. Don’t you just love YHWH’s humor. <3

Hmmm….the things our kiddies learn in school. Annie came home last week and told me that a girl in her class told her that one of the teachers at the school has some “junk in her trunk”. I asked Annie what she said in response to this and Annie proudly replied that she told the girl that ” both my mom and dad have a LOT of junk in their trunks”! I asked what made her say this and she said ( in a highly exasperated tone!!!) “have you EVER seen the back of the van? It is a mess!” Ugh…!!

    I left it at that…… :)

Lana, I’m sorry but I have to tell this.
One day Lana’s younger brother Kevin was watching his A Beka video school in his room. It was an actual classroom set up as if he was in the class and participated in all the activities.
Lana came to me and said, ” I think you should check out what’s going on with Kevin’s video.”
I went in and asked Kevin what they were doing. He said they were singing “Lead On, O King Eternal.”
I went back to Lana and told her what he said.
She responded, “Oh, I thought they were singing “Leonardo, King of the Turtles.”
