August 28, 2009. We had planned to go to Martha’s Vineyard for the day but we didn’t realize that we would need to reserve a spot on the ferry far in advance. Dave called the reservation line and we could take the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard but we would not be able to get back to Cape Cod that day. Make-A-Wish would have taken care of this for us if we had thought about it ahead of time, but it turned out for the best as it drizzled on and off all day.
So, instead of Martha’s Vineyard, we decided to visit the Cape Cod Children’s Museum in Mashpee, MA. The museum is located in what looks like an old church: stained glass windows, balcony, vaulted ceiling, etc. The museum is small but a lot of fun.
Dave and Lauren had fun working on puzzles.

The museum had lots of pretend play areas: a music room, mail room, puppet show area, submarine and pizza parlor (Lauren’s favorite). Lauren loved waiting on our table and cooking our food. If we ever have a house with a play area, I would love to build something similar to the pizza parlor. It was so cute!

After an afternoon at the Children’s Museum, we went to Falmouth to drive along the shore and look at the water one last time. We stopped briefly at a local beach to take a few more pictures. It was drizzly and windy so Carmen and I stayed in the car while Dave and Lauren ran around.
On the way home, we stopped at JT’s again. This time we got calamari! We split the grilled salmon dinner again- yummy!
We spent the rest of the evening packing up for the next day and our long drive home.
I looked at this picture for a moment and it was so obvious to me that Carmen is such a blessing to you (and so many)and how very, very blessed she is to have Lauren for a sister, and Lana for a Mommy and Dave for a Daddy and Salem to watch over her at night…..and that new little “Baby Bump” that I see in the picture
)
After sharing so much of Isaiah’s journey with the Cairns’, I just wish that I could hold Precious Carmen and just “BE” with her angelic spirit!
You are all VERY LUCKY!!!
May God Continue to Bless You, All,
Love, Janet
Thanks Janet! About the baby bump…I think this picture makes it look far bigger than it is! Right now I just look like I’ve put on 10 lbs. and no one realizes I’m pregnant. I think I would rather have a baby bump!
You do have a baby bump, girl. And it is soooo cute. You look really great! By the way, I’m loving the Cape Cod pics, you guys really captured what a neat place it is to visit. Did you see any of the streets there named “Coddington way”? We did when we went and wondered about Coddington ancestry in that area.
Well, you’ve seen me recently so I’ll take your word for it!
No, we didn’t see any Coddington Way streets. I thought that was in Rhode Island?
Lana- I have just found your website through 6yearmed. What your family has been through and yet still so strong…a true testament to your strength. My family has unfortunately shared some of the same difficult terrain in life. My heart goes out to you. I must say, we do share your affinity for LoveSac and all the awful double entendres!
