Make-A-Wish Trip: Day 3

August 26, 2009 started like the previous day with breakfast in bed! (I could get used to that!) Lauren went to camp and Dave and I started getting everything ready for a trip to the beach. We googled Cape Cod beaches and Nauset Beach came up as family-friendly with bathrooms (very important!), lifeguards, rental umbrellas and chairs, concession stands, etc.

We picked up Lauren from camp, ate a quick Subway lunch and drove to Nauset Beach. It was a lovely day and perfect beach weather. Really perfect.

Dave and Lauren built a sandcastle, Lauren collected seashells and played in the waves, and Carmen took a nice nap. I walked along the water with Lauren but my feet were freezing! Having grown up in Texas, I have only experienced warm Gulf of Mexico waters. This was NOT warm! Lauren, of course, had no problem jumping right into the ice-cold water. I kept trying to get her to walk along the sand instead. Finally, she said, “I am going to get daddy. Every time a wave comes, you yell ‘Run’!”

We stayed at the beach for the afternoon and really could have stayed for hours more but the sun was setting and it was time for dinner and bed.

Looking back, this was our favorite Make-A-Wish trip day. Carmen was so very comfortable. And she got to experience the ocean.

Oh Ms. Carmen, “You are so Beautiful, Oh my Love” (that is one of my favorite lines from the movie “Nell”)
What Awesome pictures, Dave. You should buy a lens and go into the “Print” business! I’m sure it wouldn’t take more than a few years! HA! to recoup the cost??? I say….go for it!! But really, that lens and your skills together made a great combo!
Hope Carmen is doing better…Tell Lauren that Janet from Kansas City sends her lots of love and thinks she’s a very beautiful and smart young lady!
    Love you guys, Janet

You are right that Carmen is beautiful.

You are too kind regarding my photography skills. I mostly just play around and hope for the best. Lana does a great job finishing them and touching them up. But thank you for your nice complement!

Thanks for sharing this Wish. No need for a trip to Cape Cod since we’ve traveled with you folks, the tremendous lens and the travel log that so clearly brings the ocean, sunshine and fresh salt air right here. I can taste the clams and the taffy. Spending this time with you and the girls is so heartwarming. Beautiful…..

Little Miss Carmen’s chair looks so comfy! I hope that the ocean breeze was good for her!
