In the Blink of an Eye

Our little Lauren is growing up before our very eyes.
She didn’t cry when she left with NY Grandma last night.
She’s been with her grandparents and two older cousins for a little more than 24 hours.
I am confident that she’s having a blast, as she’s looked forward to this since last summer.

She didn’t call today.
I guess this is just one small step of letting them go.
I just never imagined that it would start so young!

In the blink of an eye…she’ll be gone.
In the blink of an eye…they’ll be gone.
In the blink of an eye…we’ll all be gone.

This explains the feelings I had about Ethan today so well. He can finally swim all by himself without the assistance of any kind of floaties. He will be 4 in December, and I can hardly believe that in the blink of an eye he will be graduating from high school, getting married, and having kids of his own someday. It seems to be that, although we had Isaiah for 20 months and 4 days and we knew for half of his life that he would be gone soon, those 10 months went by in the blink of an eye. And I miss him so much. You are such an inspirational family. Love you and God bless!

Lana, as I am around younger-than-me people at church I realize that “time flies.” We have to make the most of the God-given time that we have on this earth. Yep, Lauren is growing up. I recently discovered a photo taken at your home when I visited the first time. Lauren was still a baby. She had the biggest smile I have seen!

Hi there, My son is 15 and bigger than me, working in the neighbors orchards. I can remember rocking him in my arms like it was yesterday, boy, does time fly.

Time certainly does go by so quickly. My daughter is turning 17 this November, my oldest son will be 16 four days after his sisters birthday, and my “baby” turns 14 on the 20th of this month! Three teenagers? How did this happen? It doesn’t seem like that long ago I was home with 3 babies/toddlers! You are so right, in the blink of an eye.

Well, all I can say is that it goes even faster than you think – - and if you think it is hard now, Dave, get set for when she goes off to college and then goes down the aisle with some stranger that you are SURE will never take care of her or love her as much as you do ——-

Never has been easy, but it is what you are preparing her/them for – - leaving the nest strong, able to make good decisions, and following in Christ’s footsteps – - –

P.S. She loves being with her cousins – - have been too busy to take a lot of pictures but will try to do better!

P.S. Thank you for trusting us with her – it means a LOT!

NY Grandma, It is difficult to let go but it’s not always as you described at the wedding. I remember, as Dave and Lana walked down the aisle, thinking how incredible and what a blessing it was that another person loves and treasures my precious daughter as I do and would be adding so much to her life. Letting go is easier when you realize that another person loves and cares for your child and will be trustworthy in taking responsibility for her.
