All Grown Up

By Lana, August 31, 2009 10:17 am

Today was Lauren’s first day of kindergarten. She was ready to go 15 minutes early. She was excited to take her new lunch bag with a thermos of macaroni and cheese, a container of strawberries and grapes, a granola bar, and her water canteen.

Dave, Lauren, Carmen and I walked to the bus stop. Lauren waited in line with her good friend Maya, also a new kindergartner.

The bus pulled up and Lauren hopped on. She turned around and blew me a kiss. It was all over so fast. My little girl is all grown up.

I can’t wait to hear about her first day of school!

P.S. I cried.

Aww, such a big girl now! She looks adorable! My Connor started kinder a couple weeks ago; he was excited like Lauren! I took it hard, but thankfully, he didn’t!

She’s such a cutie. Trust me…crying is good. I sent 3 kids of our own off for the first day and countless daycare children. I think with some of the daycare kids, I cried harder than the Mom’s! I’m sure she’ll have a wonderful day and be bursting with amazing stories of fun things they did today.
How’s the tooth situation coming and the rash??
    Thinking of you! Janet

Rash is better and I’m about to call the dentist! For those of you who don’t know, part of my front teeth fell out on our way home from Cape Cod (a composite I had put in when I was 15 to fill a very large gap). And then the left side of my face broke out in a strange rash. Lovely!

I took my 20 year old daughter to the airport today to send her off to study in London for the semester. She blew me a kiss behind the glass wall with tears in her eyes and I cried. It doesn’t get any easier.

    Lana,

If it makes you feel any better, I spent all day in tears today. First, I sent my middle guy off to high school….all 69 pounds of him to go be with the “big” kids in high school. Next, my 5th grader went off to school with just a hug and a quick “good-bye mom” . Next Annie rode the bus for the very first time to 1st grade….her first time being away from me all day…and far worse, my first time being apart from her all day. Lastly, my oldest who leaves for college this weekend asked when we can go shopping to buy things for his dorm room. Yikes..the tears started at 6:48 this morning and are still flowing…….

I forgot to mention how adorable Lauren looks! I am sure she had a great day! All three of my kiddies came home very excited to share their days with me!

  12. Texas Grandma says:

Lauren, What a beautiful picture of you! And I like your hair grown out a little. You really are adorable.
Maybe your mom or dad could help you write a post telling about your first day in kindergarten. I know that everyone would enjoy hearing about it.
