Ever have days that just don’t go right?
Most things went right yesterday but then I took Lauren and Carmen to Lauren’s last soccer practice. I walked across the field, carrying Carmen, to the moms waiting on the other side in the shade. (Normally I would put Carmen in her stroller but we had the Kid Kart in the van and I cannot pick up that thing.) When I got to the shade, my friend Karen ran over with the adapter to Carmen’s g-tube extension. It had popped off as I carried Carmen across the field. All of Carmen’s stomach contents were now soaking through my shirt. And just so you know, stomach contents that come out of a g-tube look and smell just like ones that come out of the mouth! So, then we sat in the 90 degree heat with stinky and slimy stuff all over us. There were little gnats flying all around. I think we attracted even more of them. Lovely.
Before the stomach contents adventure, we were home and I decided to try on my swimsuit to see if it still fits. It is a black and white tankini top and a black skirt bottom. I was thinking to myself that I was rather pleased with how it fits when Lauren walked in the bathroom. She says, “Wow, Mom! You look like a zebra!” Thanks. That was definitely the look I was going for! On the bright side, at least she didn’t think I looked like a hippo!
Anybody else have unfortunate events lately???!!!

I can definitely relate. Last week was one of those weeks! I won’t go into detail about it though, still to raw. Rikki.
Oh, I feel for you! It reminds me of a few months ago when my youngest threw up all over me in church…twice…just before I was suppose to go up and serve communion. Needless to say, we didn’t make it through the rest of the mass. The adventures of being a mom!!
I can relate… my daughter threw up on me on an airplane. The smell was so awful that I literally had to throw away my clothes! I sat in my seat for the entire flight in my bra and underwear (covered by blankets, of course)! To get off the plane I had to tie 2 blankets together to make a skirt and tie another around my top! Talk about embarrassing! Now I keep an extra change of clothes in my carry on not just for the kids but for me as well!
Oh no Christina! That is horrid!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh no!!! Christina… i know it wasn’t funny at that moment.. but that is seriously the funniest thing I have ever read!!! Blanket skirts and tops!!! Oh my goodness!!
Oh, that brings back memories.
We were on our flight home from Guatemala. My little one threw up sour milk on the way to the airport and didn’t stop all the way home. I had packed extra clothes for her in the carry on, but it wasn’t enough. She was so very sick, both ends. I had a ten hour flight with three layovers to deal with, and baby girl ended up wearing my pj’s on the last leg of our flight. Some kind people donated clothes and I washed clothes at the airport during layovers. Still not enough. I also ran out of diapers and had to improvise with paper towels. We both smelled SO bad. I felt awful for the people who had to sit next to us.
Everyone got really sick when we got home, including everyone that met us at the airport. It was a horrible nasty bug.
For those of you who don’t know Christina, she is one of those super efficient people who makes things work for her. So, I can totally see Christina creating a blanket top and skirt.
Christina is one of my favorite persons in the whole wide world!
Debbie- you deserve a medal!
Lydia told me a day or so after bringing Lily home that “it still looks like you have a baby in your tummy”. Wyatt told me a few days ago that “you are getting back in shape”. Then, Jason brought home the chocolate cake. Who knows what I will look like next!?!
Oh Lana! I can just picture it. I am half laughing at the thought of the scene because your description makes it so real. I bet the gnats WERE loving it.
Oh Lana! I’m so sorry about the unfortunate accident. I’m sure you look stunning in your swim suit! You’re one hot mama!
