We’ve posted a few of the highlights at Sandy Cove but I wanted to share my thoughts from this past weekend.
1) We should move to the water! Beach, lake, river, whatever. Dave and I both love the water. We would even settle for a very rainy place!
2) We don’t have enough fun and need to be more purposeful about having fun. It’s easy to get caught up in caring for Carmen and not do much else. We need to find ways to make things happen. We can pick places like Sandy Cove that work for our family.
3) We truly had a wonderful time at Sandy Cove. Huge thanks to Dave’s brother and mom for making it happen. (And thanks to my friend Cristie who watched Lauren so I could pack for the trip!) Great food, nice rooms, friendly staff, fun activities- mini golf, pools, shuffle board, water rides, giant swing, zip line, moon bounce, etc, and beautiful location on the Chesapeake Bay. I grew up going to Pine Cove, a similar camp in Texas, and I hope Dave and I can take our kids to Sandy Cove for many years to come.
4) This is a hard one. I so, so, so wish that Carmen was a healthy little girl. Watching all the kids at the camp running around and playing made me wish it all the more. I wish that Lauren and Carmen could play together. Tay Sachs is horrible. HORRIBLE!
5) I am determined to lose 10 lbs. so I don’t have to photoshop myself thinner! Ha, ha!!!!
Here is a picture of us on the pier.

I actually think about # 4 every time I see Lauren playing with another 3-4 year old. She’s so good with younger kids!
I am so glad you had a wonderful mini-vacation. Well deserved and it looks like you had a blast.
You could move to Oregon, there is normally lots of rain here (not lately though…..)
Hi, I am glad you had fun and could get away. I hope this summer is filled with opertunities and you get to take advantage of them all. God bless .In Christ, Joe
The joy on Lauren’s face as she ran and played with her cousins and all the other children at the conference was such a pleasure to watch. I found myself with lots of reading time while the young ones entertained themselves!
And – - we ALL realize this weekend was made possible by the most wonderful nurse a family could have!! For Selam to give up a long weekend with her family to come and do nothing more than eat, sleep, and work caring for Carmen, was a gracious gift from a truly lovely woman! I pray God will give her a special blessing for her kindness. And – a special thanks to her husband for making it happen!
P.S. – I am all for moving to water!!! Just not in a hurricane zone, earthquake zone, tornado corridor – - come to think of it, NY sounds pretty good!! We’ll settle for the nearby lake???
