Princess Carmen, You Are Dearly Loved

Carmen update: Night before last Carmen had a really bad night. Her heart rate fell into the 30s seven times. She was asleep and did not appear distressed by the heart rate drops. Last night her heart rate stayed up so we have no idea what that was all about. Carmen’s doctor told us to watch her carefully and hold her nightly Ativan if her heart rate goes down again.

Uncle Steve, Aunt Sarah and Baby Nathan sent a beautiful blanket to Carmen this week. Thank you!!! That was so thoughtful of you! The blanket is sooooo soft and I love the embroidery. (NY Grandpa and Grandma gave the super soft puppy to Carmen.) Uncle Steve and Aunt Sarah, I forgot to tell you that Lauren named one of her stuffed dogs “Skittles”! :)

A Day with Dolphins

Carmen update: Carmen is doing really well. She is breathing so quietly we can barely hear her. The pneumonia seems to be gone and Carmen is back to her normal. Thank you God!

Big thanks to Monica for staying with Lauren so we could go on a Valentine’s Day double date with the NY Grandparents!

Yesterday, the NY Grandparents, Lauren, Carmen and I went to the Aquarium. Lauren had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the dolphin show. After 5 hours, we were packing up to leave when the NY Grandparents struck up a conversation with a mom of a very special little boy. When we spot another special needs stroller, we instantly have a whole lot in common! Lauren, if you are reading this, it was great to meet you and your two boys and parents!

Here are a few pictures from our trip to the Aquarium.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Dave, Carmen and I went to the Sweetheart Banquet at our church last night. We had a wonderful time and ate way too much good food. Carmen stayed with us while Lauren went to the childcare room. Lauren was thrilled to stay up 4 hours past her bedtime! Carmen, on the other hand, took a nice nap!

Happy Valentine’s Day to my amazing husband, Dave. I hope we celebrate 50+ more Valentine’s Days!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you!

What We Humans Do to Each Other is Really Sad

Earlier this week, I left work and headed for my car. As I approached the spot in the parking garage where I left it that morning, I got a little bit nervous. My car wasn’t there! Did I park it somewhere else? Am I on the wrong level? No. I’m sure this is where I parked it. So I did what anyone else would do. I clicked my key chain, listened for beeping sounds and looked around for blinking lights. To my surprise, the car right in front of me started beeping and blinking. Eh??? What’s this?

Apparently, someone decided that they needed my factory-plastic hub caps more than I do…so they stole all four of them! I used to drive a Toyota Camry. Now I drive an unmarked car.

Heart Family Night

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, we had Heart Family Night. Lauren decorated the table with all heart stuff. Carmen looked pretty in pink. We ate heart-shaped pizza and carrots. The theme was Lauren’s Bible verse for this week, “We love because He first loved us.” I John 4:19

I am a woman of few words tonight…I have a cold. So, goodnight!
