National Museum of the Amerian Indian

Last Saturday we (NY Grandparents and all of us) went to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. We viewed a small Mayan exhibit and went to a workshop where a Guatemalan woman demonstrated weaving.

Before Carmen was diagnosed, Dave and I talked a lot about wanting Carmen to be proud of her Mayan heritage. We hoped that someday she would want to go back to Guatemala. In fact, Dave mentioned several times that he hoped that Carmen would be a missionary in Guatemala. God had a very different plan for Carmen’s life.

Lauren picked out a couple of dolls from the museum gift shop.

All of these photos of food, holiday recipes and especially our birthday celebration with Lana’s “little brother” Micah who stands 6’3”, made us start praying, planning and hoping for a Family Reunion in June 2009.

We are reserving a room at Olive Garden in Lufkin Sunday June 21 2009 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm for a Father’s Day/Reunion/Kevin‘s Birthday dinner. You don’t have to bring anything but yourselves.

Any one that wants to start getting to know each other beforehand is welcome to join Larry/Nancy on Thursday June 18 2009 on newly restored (from Hurricane Ike) Galveston Island. Galveston needs its economy stimulated. It has beautiful beach, good food, and will give you an idea that Texas has more to offer than desert, cowboys and ranch beans.

We are looking forward to seeing you again.

Reading your notes to Lana/Dave is great and we know family/friends are God’s blessings in time of need. Until we meet in Texas, may the Lord bless you and keep you.
