Carmen update: Carmen had a very good night. Her night nurse said last night was a good turning point. I am going to take her to the doctor today for a follow-up.
I don’t read a ton of blogs. I have enough trouble keeping up this one! I do read the Caringbridge sites of the other children with Tay Sachs and related diseases, a few friends’ blogs and my favorite, http://6yearmed.blogspot.com/.
Danielle is a resident at a Childrens Hospital. She has a heart for special needs kids. If she ever moves to our area, I will be first in line to have her see my kids! Her blog is primarily stories of her experiences as a doctor.
The first blog I read of hers was this one and I was hooked: “When Heaven Doesn’t Hear You”
This one made me cry: “Faith and Grace”
If you prefer funny: “Bathroom Humor” or “On Giving It Right Back”
I hope Danielle keeps writing. She is a fabulous writer and storyteller. I suspect she was born in the decade after me but I won’t hold that against her!
Wow! Those are beautiful stories and you’re right–She’s a great storyteller. I had to try really hard to not cry just before going to our morning meeting.
Oh my gosh, Lana, this site is amazing. I don’t cry much anymore. I pray that I will be released from the calloused emotions and be able to feel as deeply as my heart and soul desire. This magnificent doc’s writings have begun that process for me. How wonderful is our God to speak and work through her. Thank you for sharing. So pleased to hear of the improvement Carmen is experiencing. Thank you, Jesus, for hearing our prayers. Love and Blessings in His Light and Love…. Betty.
Aw! Lana, you are too kind! I think we hold each other in about the same light.
What I wouldn’t give to hold sweet Carmen! That’s what I thought doctoring would be like. It turns out, it isn’t. And so I come here and read and refresh.
I have just finished crying my way through several of Danielle’s blogs.
Thank you, Lana, for telling us about this site.
Thank you, Danielle, for sharing your heart – - you are going to be the pediatrician every parent wants for their child. Don’t ever think you don’t make a difference – even when the end is not so good. We can only see this side of heaven – - –
P.S. – Do we ever find out about the mother and child in When Heaven Doesn’t Hear You?
